Sue’s love of book arts and handmade journals started through an adventure with building dollhouses. During that time, Sue attempted to learn how to make Nesting Dollhouses.
That foray led to a discovery of binder’s board and bookbinding instructions and all of the many creative things that can be made from that medium. After the purchase of her first book on making creative journals, Sue was off and running in a mixed media world of journal-making.
A connection with a local print shop led to an abundant supply of donated, recycled printing paper. Needing to find a way to utilize more paper than she knew what to do with, Sue explored additional mixed media ways to bind books.
Up-cycled materials such as leather, suede, wood, binder’s board, fabric, paint, foam board, old books, and metal combined with recycled paper and endbands, paint, glue, found embellishments all go into creating one of a kind, hand-assembled, hand-made journals, diaries, and sketchbooks.
